Executive Director: Kimberly George, MIA
Kimberly S. George is the Executive Director of Rebuilding Together NYC. She brings experience in nonprofit fiscal management, strategic partnership building, program development, Board and volunteer development, communications, and fundraising to RT NYC’s team. Prior to joining RT NYC, Kimberly served as Executive Director of the Greater Brooklyn Health Coalition (GBHC), a nonprofit that provides grassroots community organizing to meet the challenges faced by Brooklyn’s public health system, with a focus on reducing health disparities. Kimberly also served as Program Director at CAMBA, overseeing the Brooklyn Partnership to Drive Down Diabetes (BP3D). Kimberly has been published in several public health journals and served a two-year term on the Board of the Public Health Association of New York City (PHANYC). She also served as an adjunct Professor at Long Island University teaching the MPH Capstone Seminar on health disparities. She received a Community Partner Recognition Award from the Brooklyn District Public Health Office (BDPHO) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH). In addition, under Kimberly’s leadership, GBHC received the Public Health Community Award from PHANYC. Kimberly has a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
Program Manager: Jennifer Terry
Jennifer Terry joined Rebuilding Together NYC as the Program Manager in 2012. Prior to joining the organization, Jennifer served as an AmeriCorps member at Rebuilding Together Dayton, and is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer of Kazakhstan 2006-2008. She holds a M.S. in Nonprofit Management and a Post-Masters Certificate in Sustainability Strategies from The New School. When she’s not managing projects with RT NYC, you’ll likely find her running through the streets of Brooklyn or baking sweet confections for her colleagues.
Construction Manager: Terry Scott
Terry Scott has been in the construction/building maintenance field for 24 years, the last 16 as a self-employed General Contractor. Prior to joining Rebuilding Together NYC, Terry was involved with Rebuilding Together for the last 7 years as a volunteer with Rebuilding Together South Sound. After a trip from Seattle in 2013 to work on Sandy affected homes, he was compelled to come back to New York City in the capacity of Construction Manager and he is thrilled to be involved with RT NYC.
Intake Specialist/Development Officer: Melissa Stucki
Melissa is on her third year with Rebuilding Together, serving her first two years as an AmeriCorps Member. Her first year was as a House Captain in New Orleans and her second year as a Program Coordinator in New York City. After those two years, she has developed the skills and expertise to earn a full time staff position at RT NYC. Melissa now holds the Intake Specialist/Development Officer position at RT NYC. Originally from Minnesota, she managed to bring some ‘Minnesota Nice’ along with her. She is excited to stay on with RT NYC and keep serving homeowners in need.
AmeriCorps Volunteer & Special Events Coordinator: Emily Bachman
Emily joined Rebuilding Together NYC in August, 2013 as the AmeriCorps Volunteer & Special Projects Coordinator. She has a Bachelors Degree in History, Environmental Studies, and Anthropology from Wake Forest University. While at WFU, Emily served as President of the Student Environmental Action Coalition and a volunteered extensively for environmental and social justice causes. After leading an Alternative Spring Break trip to volunteer with Rebuilding Together New Orleans, she decided to move back to her home state of New York and join Rebuilding Together NYC in its efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy. She likes exploring Brooklyn by bike, playing the banjo, and listening to NPR.
AmeriCorps Marketing & Outreach Coordinator: Emma Schnur
Emma Schnur is serving as the AmeriCorps Marketing and Outreach Coordinator at Rebuilding Together NYC. Emma graduated from Cornell University in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources. She honed her outreach and communication skills through her past work as an Energy Corps Educator at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County where she guided residents through the home energy efficiency upgrade process. Emma is passionate about environmental conservation and disaster resiliency and has recently been published in an environmental journal. After she completes her AmeriCorps service term at RT NYC, Emma will be pursuing a Master of Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
AmeriCorps Project Coordinator: Sabene Similien
Sabene Similien is currently serving as the AmeriCorps Project Coordinator for Rebuilding Together NYC. She received her BS in Human Services from CUNY New York City College of Technology and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Public Administration and Public Policy at CUNY School of Professional Studies. Prior to serving at Rebuilding Together, Sabene provided crisis counseling services to survivors of Hurricane Sandy. Her professional experiences also included case management, crisis intervention and advocacy for services and options to meet the needs and goals of the children and families she served.
